What the NRND status means for your BOM line
The ESP32-S2-WROVER-I-N4R2: This module carries an NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) status from Espressif Systems — it is still available for existing production but not intended for new product designs.
Wireless performance and memory headroom
The ESP32-S2-WROVER-I-N4R2 integrates a 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n radio with a data rate up to 150 Mbps and a transmit power of 19.5 dBm. Receive sensitivity reaches -97 dBm, giving it a solid link budget for indoor IoT applications where walls and interference are present. Onboard memory is 4 MB Flash and 2 MB PSRAM, which supports running a TCP/IP stack, TLS, and application logic without external memory. The serial interface set — ADC, I2C, I2S, SPI, PWM, UART — covers sensor integration, audio, and display peripherals.
Supply and temperature range for industrial deployment
Current consumption in receive mode is 63 mA to 68 mA; transmit current ranges from 160 mA to 310 mA depending on output power level.
