Wireless MCU module for connected products

The ESP32-PICO-V3 is a system-in-package module from the ESP32 series, integrating a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 radio with a dual-core microcontroller. It targets IoT endpoints, smart home hubs, and industrial wireless nodes where a single-chip solution with proven software stack shortens the design cycle.

Memory, interfaces, and temperature grade

On-chip memory comprises 448 kB ROM and 520 kB SRAM — enough for the Wi-Fi stack and a lightweight RTOS application. The serial interface set includes ADC, I²C, I²S, SDIO, SPI, PWM, and UART, covering sensor readout, audio codec, display, and external flash expansion without a separate MCU. Housed in a 48-TFQFN Exposed Pad package, the module requires a thermal pad on the PCB for heat dissipation during continuous transmission.

Wireless protocol and data rate

Supports 802.11b/g/n at data rates up to 150 Mbps and Bluetooth 4.2 with classic and BLE modes. Modulation schemes include 8DPSK, DSSS, DQPSK, and OFDM — the radio handles both the high-throughput OFDM for Wi-Fi and the constant-envelope GFSK for Bluetooth coexistence on the same 2.4 GHz band. Current draw during receive is 95 mA to 100 mA; transmit current ranges from 130 mA to 240 mA depending on output power setting. The antenna is not included — the designer provides a PCB trace or external antenna matched to the 50-ohm output.
