What this chip does on your board
The ESP32-D0WDQ6 is a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.2 combo controller with an integrated MCU core, 34 GPIOs, and 520 KB on-chip SRAM. It handles the wireless stack and application logic in a single 48-QFN (6x6) package, so you do not need a separate host processor for many IoT endpoints.

Transmit power is 20 dBm at the antenna port; receive sensitivity is -98 dBm. The 150 Mbps PHY data rate is enough for OTA firmware updates and local data logging, but not for HD video streaming — right-size the wireless pipe to the application. Supply range is 2.3 V to 3.6 V; the 100 mA receive current and 240 mA transmit current set the regulator and trace-width budget on the PCB. Serial interfaces include I²C, I²S, SPI, and UART — enough for external sensors, audio codecs, and display modules without an external bridge.
