Three voltage thresholds define the protection window
The SMCJ58CA-13-F: Reverse standoff at 58 V is the maximum continuous DC voltage the TVS sees without conducting — below this it is effectively an open circuit. Breakdown starts at 64.4 V minimum, which is the threshold where the device begins to avalanche. The gap between standoff and clamp is the headroom the downstream components must survive. The DO-214AB (SMC) package is the standard surface-mount footprint for 1500 W TVS diodes. The junction operates from -55 °C to 150 °C, so the device handles the self-heating from repeated surges even in a hot enclosure.
