Transient protection for a 13V rail

The SMCJ13A-13-F: It clamps a 13V nominal rail at 21.5V maximum, shunting up to 69.7A of surge current away from the protected circuit. Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 14.4V, so the device stays off below the rail voltage and only conducts when a transient pushes the line above that threshold. The DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package handles the 1500W peak without cracking the body — the copper tab on the bottom side conducts heat into the board copper, keeping the junction temperature within the -55°C to 150°C operating range.
