Breakdown and clamping window
The SMBJ51A-13-F: Minimum breakdown voltage is 56.7 V, giving a 5.7 V guard band above the 51 V standoff — the diode stays off during normal operation and only conducts when the transient exceeds the breakdown threshold. The 82.4 V maximum clamping voltage defines the worst-case voltage the load sees during a surge event. The DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package suits standard reflow assembly and is rated for general-purpose circuit protection applications.
