Transient protection for 48V rails
The SMBJ48A-13-F: Its 48V reverse standoff voltage means it does not conduct at normal operating levels, but when a surge exceeds 53.3V breakdown, it clamps at 77.4V maximum while shunting 7.7A of peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform).
Package and board-fit
The unidirectional configuration (single channel) suits DC lines where polarity is fixed — reverse the connection and the diode forward-conducts, so orientation matters during assembly. Tape & Reel packaging (cut tape also available) feeds pick-and-place machines; store the reels dry per moisture-sensitive-device handling guidelines.
The wide range also means the leakage current at 48V reverse standoff stays low enough at 85°C to avoid false triggering in sensitive circuits.
