Automotive-grade transient protection for 48V bus lines
The SMAJ51AQ-13-F is a 400W peak-pulse TVS diode in the DO-214AC (SMA) package, designed to clamp transients on 48V nominal rails in automotive electronics. With a 51V reverse standoff voltage and a minimum breakdown of 56.7V, it sits just above the 48V bus tolerance band — clamping at 82.4V max to protect downstream ICs from load-dump and inductive kickback. Rated for 4.9A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform), this part handles the energy from a single-shot surge on a 48V supply line without exceeding the junction temperature limit of 150°C.
AEC-Q101 qualification and temperature range
AEC-Q101 qualified, the SMAJ51AQ-13-F is screened for automotive reliability — 1000-hour high-temperature reverse bias, temperature cycling, and ESD robustness per the automotive discrete semiconductor standard.
Surface-mount in DO-214AC (SMA) — the same footprint as standard SMA diodes, so it drops onto existing 48V TVS pads without a layout change.
