The SMAJ17AQ-13-F: It clamps at 27.6 V max and handles 14.5 A peak pulse current, with a 17 V reverse standoff voltage — sized for protecting 12 V or 15 V automotive supply rails against load-dump and inductive kickback transients.
The unidirectional configuration means the cathode band must be oriented toward the protected rail; reverse insertion shorts the rail to ground.
