What the 1500W rating means on a dead rail
The 1.5KE62A-B: On a 53V rail, it starts conducting at 58.9V minimum breakdown and hard-clamps at 85V maximum, shunting up to 17.7A of surge current away from the downstream silicon. The 53V reverse standoff voltage means this part sits across a 48V nominal bus (or a 52V regulated rail) and stays out of the circuit during normal operation. When a transient punches through, the Zener avalanche pulls the voltage down to 85V — enough to save a 60V-rated MOSFET or a downstream DC-DC converter that would otherwise see the full spike.
The axial leads let it sit above the board for airflow or conformal coating clearance; the bulk packaging means it ships loose, not on tape-and-reel, so it's a hand-insert or wave-solder part on a through-hole board.
