120 µH shielded drum core — the fit decision
The Coilcraft LPS5015-124MRC is a 120 µH shielded drum core inductor in the LPS5015 series, rated for 270 mA continuous current with a saturation floor of 250 mA.
Shielding and self-resonant frequency
Shielded construction contains the magnetic field within the ferrite core — this matters when the inductor sits next to a sensitive ADC or RF path on the same board, because the stray field from an unshielded drum would couple into adjacent traces. The self-resonant frequency is 10 MHz — above that the inductor starts behaving capacitively, so for a DC-DC converter switching at 1-2 MHz the part stays well below SRF and the inductance holds flat.
