Inductance and current ratings for DC-DC converter fit
The LPS4018-222MRC is a 2.2 µH shielded drum core inductor from Coilcraft's LPS4018 series, rated for 1.5 A continuous current with a 2.7 A saturation floor. The 70 mOhm maximum DCR sets the I²R conduction loss — at full rated current the self-heating is roughly 160 mW, which stays within the 125°C temperature ceiling without derating the adjacent passives. For a DC-DC converter feeding a 3.3 V rail from a 12 V battery bus, the 2.2 µH value and 2.7 A saturation margin handle the inrush and load-transient current without inductance roll-off.
Shielded construction and self-resonant frequency
The ferrite drum core is fully shielded, which contains the magnetic flux within the component body and reduces radiated EMI coupling into adjacent PCB traces or nearby wireless antennas. The 90 MHz self-resonant frequency sits well above the 1-2 MHz switching frequency of most automotive and industrial buck converters, so the inductor behaves as a pure inductance across the operating band.
