120 µH shielded drum core for automotive and industrial DC-DC
The Coilcraft LPS4018-124MRC is a 120 µH shielded drum core inductor in the LPS4018 series, qualified to AEC-Q200 for automotive-grade reliability across -40°C to 125°C. Rated at 300 mA continuous with a saturation current of 310 mA, the 1.6 Ohm max DCR sets the I²R loss budget — at full load the winding dissipates about 144 mW, which the 3.90 mm square ferrite core handles without exceeding the temperature rise limit.
Shielded construction and self-resonant frequency
Shielded ferrite construction contains the magnetic field within the 3.90 mm footprint, reducing crosstalk to adjacent traces in dense layouts — relevant for power rails feeding sensitive analog or RF stages. The self-resonant frequency is 9 MHz, which means the inductor behaves inductively up to that point; above 9 MHz parasitic capacitance dominates and the impedance rolls off — design the switching converter below this ceiling to avoid SRF peaking.
