1 mH shielded drum core for DC-DC output filtering
The Coilcraft LPS4018-105MRC is a shielded drum-core inductor in the LPS4018 series, rated 1 mH ±20% with a 98 mA continuous current rating and a 100 mA saturation current floor. The 18 Ohm maximum DCR at 25°C sets the copper-loss thermal budget — at 98 mA the I²R loss is about 173 mW, which the 3.9 mm × 3.9 mm × 1.8 mm package must dissipate without exceeding the 125°C operating ceiling. Shielded construction (ferrite core plus magnetic shield) keeps the flux contained, so the inductor can sit next to sensitive analog or RF traces without injecting ripple into the signal path.
AEC-Q200 qualification and temperature range
The self-resonant frequency of 2.8 MHz sets the upper bound for useful inductance — above that the component behaves capacitively, so it is best applied in switching converters switching below 500 kHz where the impedance remains inductive.
