The Coilcraft LPS3015-224MRC is a 220 µH shielded power inductor in the LPS3015 series, rated for 155 mA continuous current and 160 mA saturation current.
Saturation margin and self-resonant frequency
The saturation current (Isat) of 160 mA is only 3% above the rated DC current of 155 mA — this inductor operates near its saturation knee at full load, so the inductance roll-off under DC bias must be factored into the ripple current calculation for the downstream converter. Self-resonant frequency is 6 MHz, setting the upper bound for effective filtering — above this frequency the parasitic capacitance dominates and the impedance becomes capacitive, not inductive. Inductance is tested at 100 kHz, the standard test frequency for power inductors in this value range, and tolerance is ±20% — the full spread at rated current must be accommodated in the control-loop compensation.
