1.5 µH shielded power inductor for automotive and industrial DC-DC
The Coilcraft LPS3015-152MRC is a 1.5 µH shielded power inductor from the LPS3015 series, rated for 1.7 A continuous current with a saturation current floor of 2.3 A.
What the ratings mean for your rail
The 1.7 A current rating is the DC current at which the inductance drop stays within the datasheet tolerance band — it is not a fuse rating; the part will carry more current before saturating, but the inductance will fall off above the 2.3 A Isat point. The 100 mOhm max DCR sets the I²R conduction loss: at 1.7 A the copper loss is about 290 mW, which the 2.95 mm × 2.95 mm footprint must dissipate into the PCB copper without exceeding the 125°C ceiling. The ferrite core and shielded construction keep the flux contained — this matters when the inductor sits next to a sensitive analog rail or a radio front-end where stray field would couple into the signal path.
The nonstandard SMD package measures 2.95 mm per side, seated height 1.50 mm — the footprint is compact enough for a 2-layer board, but the pad layout should follow Coilcraft's recommended land pattern to keep the solder fillet consistent. The part ships in strip packaging — not tape-and-reel — so it is best suited for hand-assembly or low-volume reflow where a tube or tray feeder is not available.
