31.76 W per channel into 4 Ω — the headline number that decides the speaker load
The Analog Devices SSM3582ACPZ-R7 is a stereo Class D audio power amplifier delivering 31.76 W per channel into a 4 Ω load from a nominal supply within its 4.5 V to 16 V range. That power level puts it in the mid-power bracket — enough to drive a pair of bookshelf speakers in a soundbar, a powered bookshelf monitor, or a multi-room audio zone, without the thermal management headache of a linear Class AB stage. The Class D architecture means most of the heat stays in the load, not the package, which is why a 40-LFCSP-WQ (6x6) exposed-pad package can handle this output.
The 4.5 V to 16 V supply range covers the common audio rails: a 5 V USB bus, a 12 V automotive battery line (with cranking margin), or a regulated 15 V supply from a set-top box or active speaker PSU.
Package and thermal — the exposed pad is not optional
At 31.76 W output, the Class D efficiency keeps junction temperatures manageable, but without that pad connection the part will hit thermal shutdown under sustained high-level playback. The 6x6 mm footprint is compact enough for a two-layer board if the ground plane is solid underneath.
