4.096V reference for ADC/DAC scaling
The REF198GSZ-REEL is a 4.096V fixed-output series voltage reference from the REF19 family. That 4.096V output is a common full-scale voltage for 12- and 16-bit ADCs — each LSB of a 12-bit converter represents exactly 1 mV, making scaling calculations integer-clean. Output tolerance is ±0.24%, and the temperature coefficient is 25ppm/°C. This is the 1/f noise region that limits the effective resolution of a precision measurement system — below this noise floor, averaging won't improve the reading.
Supply current and output drive
Quiescent supply current is 45µA typical. For a battery-powered data logger or field transmitter, the reference's own draw is negligible compared to the ADC and microcontroller — it won't dominate the sleep-mode budget. The part can source up to 30 mA of output current. That's enough to drive multiple ADC reference inputs, a small resistive divider, or a precision load — but not a power rail. Input voltage range is 4.5V to 15V, giving headroom for a 5V or 12V supply rail.
Package and lifecycle
The reel packaging (Tape & Reel or Cut Tape) suits both automated pick-and-place and small-bench rework. Lifecycle status is Active, and the part is ROHS3 compliant.
