Class D mono amplifier with I2C volume control
The Maxim Integrated MAX9768ETG+T is a Class D mono audio amplifier delivering 10W into an 8Ω load from a 4.5V to 14V supply. It integrates I2C-controlled volume, depop circuitry, mute, and shutdown — all in a 24-TQFN (4x4 mm) package with exposed pad for thermal management.
The 10W into 8Ω rating is the headline — enough for a small bookshelf speaker or a dedicated voice-alarm channel. The I2C volume control (part of the feature set) means you can drop a separate digital potentiometer or DAC from the BOM; the depop circuit eliminates the thump on power-up or mute release, saving an external mute relay or soft-start capacitor. The 4.5V minimum supply lets it run from a 5V rail, while the 14V ceiling covers unregulated automotive supplies with headroom.
