1.4 W mono Class AB in a compact exposed-pad package
The MAX9717CEUA is a low-cost, mono Class AB audio amplifier delivering 1.4 W into a 4 Ω load from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply. The 1.4 W rating at 4 Ω is the headline output capability — enough to drive a small speaker in a portable or battery-powered device. The 2.7 V minimum supply means it runs directly from two alkaline cells or a Li-ion battery down to the discharge floor. Operating temperature spans -40°C to +85°C, covering industrial and outdoor enclosures where the ambient inside a sealed box can exceed 70°C. The 8-uMAX-EP / 8-uSOP-EP package with exposed pad pulls heat into the PCB copper plane — critical for sustaining 1.4 W output without thermal foldback.
Supply range and thermal envelope
Rated for 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply — the upper end suits a regulated 5 V rail from a USB port or a boost converter; the lower end lets the amplifier keep running as a Li-ion cell drops to 3.0 V and below. The -40°C to +85°C range matches the industrial temperature grade; the exposed pad on the 8-uMAX-EP package should be soldered to a ground-plane copper pour to keep the junction temperature within limits at full output. Surface-mount assembly on a standard 8-TSSOP or 8-MSOP footprint with the exposed-pad land pattern. The 3.00 mm body width fits dense PCB layouts where board space is the constraint.
