1A charge current, single-cell Li-Ion charger in a 2x2 mm TDFN
Active production, ROHS3 compliant — no obsolescence concern
It is also ROHS3 compliant, meeting the latest EU restriction-of-hazardous-substances directive.
What the 1A charge current and over-voltage protection mean for the design
The 1A maximum charge current is the key parameter for charge-time budgeting. With a typical 1000 mAh Li-Ion cell, a full constant-current charge at 1A takes roughly one hour before the constant-voltage phase begins. The over-voltage protection clamps the battery voltage at 4.2V, preventing over-charge and extending cycle life. The constant-current is programmable, so the designer can trade charge speed against thermal dissipation in the 2x2 mm package.
Package and mounting — surface-mount 8-TDFN with exposed pad
The part is supplied in an 8-WFDFN exposed-pad package (supplier device package 8-TDFN-EP, 2x2 mm) for surface-mount assembly.
