Buck-boost topology with 2 A continuous output
The MAX77801ETP+ is a synchronous buck-boost regulator that accepts an input from 2.3 V to 5.5 V and delivers a programmable output starting at 2.6 V. The 2 A continuous output current is available across the full input range, not just near the crossover point — useful when the battery voltage dips below the output target and the part must boost without dropping current. Switching at 2.5 MHz keeps the inductor small enough for a compact 20-TQFN layout, but the fast edges mean the output capacitor ESR and PCB loop inductance matter more than at lower frequencies. Synchronous rectification eliminates the external Schottky diode — the internal low-side FET handles the freewheeling, saving one BOM line and a diode drop's worth of loss.
Active production, single-source risk
No pin-compatible second source or cross-reference is documented — the part is a single-source line item. If the BOM needs a hedge, the RFQ should cover a multi-year volume commitment or an authorized-distributor buffer.
