The MAX7328AWE+ is an 8-bit I2C I/O expander from Analog Devices in a 16-SOIC package (0.295", 7.50mm width). It provides eight open-drain I/O lines controlled via a 2-Wire serial interface running at up to 100 kHz.
I2C bus integration and I/O architecture
The 2-Wire interface operates at a standard 100 kHz clock frequency. The eight I/O ports are open-drain, so external pull-up resistors are required on each line if driving a logic high. No interrupt output is provided — the host must poll the expander to detect input changes. The 16-SOIC wide-body footprint (7.50 mm width) is a common package for I2C expanders; the 0.295" body width matches standard SOIC-16 land patterns. The tube packaging is typical for prototype and low-volume builds.
