Two-rail watchdog for mixed-voltage boards
The Maxim Integrated MAX697CWE+ is a 2-channel multi-voltage supervisor in a 16-SOIC package. It monitors two independent supply rails and asserts both an active-high and an active-low reset output when either rail falls below its threshold. The reset outputs stay asserted for a minimum of 35 ms after all rails return to tolerance — long enough to let a typical microcontroller finish its oscillator startup and clear its power-on reset flag.
The thresholds are adjustable via external resistors. This supervisor belongs in an office switch, a bench power supply, or a lab instrument — not in a motor drive cabinet or an outdoor telecom enclosure. If the board sees an unheated warehouse in winter, pick an industrial-grade supervisor instead.
For a BOM freeze, this part is safe to commit — no PCN risk in the near term.
