Five-digit 7-segment LED driver with 3-wire serial control
The Analog Devices MAX6950CEE+ drives 5 digits of 7-segment LED displays via a 3-wire serial interface.
The 10 mA supply current (typical) covers the driver's own logic and oscillator, not the LED segment current — external resistors set per-segment peak current. At 5 V the 3-wire serial logic levels are 5 V tolerant, so it mates directly with 5 V microcontrollers without level shifting.
The date-code and marking on incoming stock should be verified against the manufacturer's known laser-etch font for this package — a clean trace back to the authorized channel is the standard screen for this part.
