What this supervisor does on your board
The Analog Devices MAX6373KA+T is a single-channel watchdog circuit in an SOT-23-8 package. It monitors a single voltage rail and asserts a reset output — active low, open-drain — when the supply drops below an adjustable/selectable threshold. The reset timeout is also adjustable, letting you set the watchdog period to match the system's expected heartbeat interval.
The SOT-23-8 footprint is small enough for space-constrained designs — think motor drive control boards, engine ECUs, or outdoor telecom line cards where the watchdog needs to keep running through the thermal extremes.
Because both the voltage threshold and the reset timeout are adjustable/selectable, you can tune the watchdog period with a single external capacitor or resistor (depending on the configuration). That saves a dedicated timer IC or a firmware-based watchdog that consumes MCU resources. For a production BOM, it means one less programmed part to manage — the timeout is set by a passive component value, not a firmware revision.
