Buried-zener stability for precision signal chains
The MAX6325CSA+ is a 2.5V series voltage reference built on a buried-zener topology — the same architecture used in 16-bit+ ADC references — rather than a bandgap. Temperature drift is specified at 1ppm/°C typical, and initial accuracy at ±0.04%, which means this part holds its setpoint across a 70°C span without external trimming — a fit for precision DAC references, multi-slope integrating converters, or as the master reference in a data-acquisition system where the system calibration budget is tight.
Supply headroom and output drive
Input range spans 8V to 36V, so the reference can run from a 12V or 24V unregulated rail and still regulate cleanly through line transients. Output current is rated 15 mA — enough to bias the reference input of an ADC, drive a handful of op-amp stages, or feed a precision current source without a separate buffer. Quiescent current is 3 mA, which is modest for a buried-zener part; the 8-36V input range means the power dissipation in the 8-SOIC package stays under 110 mW even at the highest input voltage and full output load, so no thermal derating concern in still air at 70°C ambient.
Package and board integration
The tube packaging is typical for small-quantity prototyping and low-volume production; for reel quantities the MAX6325CSA+T variant is the tape-and-reel version.
