Adjustable series reference for precision bias rails
The Maxim Integrated MAX6160EUS+T is a series voltage reference with an adjustable output spanning 1.23V to 12.4V, set by an external resistor divider. It delivers up to 1 mA output current while drawing 130 µA quiescent supply current. Housed in a SOT-143-4 surface-mount package, it fits tight analog bias or ADC reference rails where a single resistor-programmed voltage is needed.
Output voltage range and setting it up
The output is adjustable from a minimum of 1.23V up to 12.4V, using the input supply range of 2.7V to 12.6V. A standard resistor divider from output to the adjust pin programs the voltage; the 1.23V internal reference sets the lower bound. This flexibility lets one BOM line cover multiple reference voltages across different board variants without changing the regulator IC.
Noise performance for sensitive analog chains
Low-frequency noise is specified at 15 µVp-p from 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz and 500 µVp-p from 10 Hz to 10 kHz. For a 12-bit ADC with a 2.5V reference, the 0.1-10 Hz noise contributes less than 0.2 LSB, making this part usable in instrumentation and data-acquisition front ends where flicker noise matters.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
