The circuit breaker responds to overcurrent by latching off — the latched fault output stays asserted until the input power is cycled or the part is reset. This is the standard protection scheme for loads that must not auto-retry into a sustained fault (e.g., a motor drive with a stalled rotor or a shorted output capacitor).
