SOIC-8 footprint and board integration
Housed in an 8-SOIC (0.154-inch body width, 3.90 mm width) surface-mount package, the MAX490ESA+ shares the standard SOIC-8 land pattern used by hundreds of RS-485 transceivers. No footprint change is needed when substituting between common 8-pin SOIC parts from the same class. The surface-mount package is suitable for reflow soldering per JEDEC J-STD-020; the tube packing means the parts ship in anti-static tubes rather than tape-and-reel, so pick-and-place feeders may need a tube feeder or manual loading for high-volume lines.
Active production and compliance status
The device is ROHS3 Compliant, meeting the latest EU RoHS exemption-free requirements for lead-free assembly.
