Product details

The MAX4420ESA+T: The 6 A peak source and 6 A peak sink current is the headline number for this driver: it charges and discharges the MOSFET gate capacitance quickly, which directly reduces switching losses in a hard-switched converter or motor drive.

Low-side configuration and MOSFET compatibility

This is a single-channel low-side driver, meaning the driven MOSFET's source connects to ground and the load sits between the drain and the positive rail — the standard topology for a buck converter, forward converter, or a solenoid driver. The gate type covers both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs, so the same driver can be used for a low-side N-channel switch or, with appropriate supply referencing, a high-side P-channel switch in a low-cost regulator. The non-inverting input means the output follows the input polarity — a logic high turns the MOSFET on. No inversion to account for in the control loop.

Industrial temperature range — deployment envelope

Surface-mount construction means the part is intended for automated assembly on a standard PCB, not for socketed or through-hole prototyping.
