Product details

Current-sense amplifier with 1.7 MHz bandwidth

The MAX4173TEUT+T is a single-circuit current-sense amplifier from Maxim Integrated, designed to measure load current by amplifying the voltage drop across an external shunt resistor. Its 1.7 MHz -3dB bandwidth supports fast transient detection in applications like motor-drive phase monitoring or battery-charger current loops, where the sense amplifier must track PWM ripple without significant phase lag.

Supply envelope and temperature grade

Operating from a 3 V to 28 V supply span, the part covers common rails from 3.3 V logic to 24 V industrial buses without an external regulator.

Input offset and bias for shunt accuracy

A 300 µV input offset voltage sets the minimum detectable shunt drop — for a 10 mΩ shunt, this translates to a 30 mA offset error at the output, which is acceptable for most overcurrent and load-monitoring thresholds. The 700 µA input bias current flows through the shunt and adds a small voltage error proportional to the shunt resistance; using a 1 mΩ shunt keeps this error below 1 µV, negligible relative to the offset.

ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, covering the full substance restriction list including the four phthalates — relevant for EU-market shipments and end-of-life recycling declarations.
