Receiver hysteresis and noise immunity on long runs
The receiver includes 50 mV of hysteresis. On a long RS-485 stub with marginal termination, that hysteresis prevents the output from chattering when the differential signal sits near the threshold — a common failure mode on cables longer than 100 m at 20 Mbps.
