Active RS232 transceiver for legacy serial links
The MAX3311EUB+ is an active-production RS232 transceiver from Analog Devices, still suitable for new designs. It handles full-duplex communication at 460 kbps over a single driver/receiver pair, operating from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply rail.
Industrial temperature grade and noise margin
The 500 mV receiver hysteresis filters out noise on long RS232 cable runs — a practical margin for factory-floor serial links where ground potential differences can inject common-mode noise.
Package and supply integration
Housed in a 10-uMAX/uSOP package (3.00 mm width, 0.118" pitch), the MAX3311EUB+ mounts on surface-mount boards with a small footprint. The 5V supply rail is standard for legacy RS232 ports, so no extra regulator is needed when the board already carries a 5V bus.
Analog Devices lists this part as active in production with ROHS3 compliance.
