Single receiver for RS-422/RS-485 — what the specs mean for fit
The MAX3280EAUK+T is a single RS-422/RS-485 receiver in a SOT-23-5 package — it handles the receive side only, so any bus design still needs a separate driver for transmit. The 52 Mbps data rate covers the full RS-485 bandwidth; the 25 mV receiver hysteresis filters out noise on long cable runs where common-mode voltage shifts between nodes. Supply range is 3V to 5.5V, single-rail — it works off a 3.3V or 5V bus without a second regulator. The -40°C to +125°C operating temperature covers industrial enclosures and under-hood environments; the 0/1 driver/receiver count means this part is purely a bus listener, not a talker.
Housed in a SOT-23-5 (SC-74A) surface-mount package — five pins, 2.9 mm × 1.6 mm footprint. The small body fits tight layouts but means decoupling capacitance sits close to the supply pin; a 0.1 µF ceramic directly at the pin keeps the 52 Mbps edges clean. No exposed pad — thermal dissipation is through the pins and PCB copper. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) for production pick-and-place or Cut Tape (CT) for prototype builds. The reel quantity is standard for the SOT-23-5 form factor.
ROHS3 compliant, no exemptions.
