Cold-junction compensated thermocouple digitizer in an 8-SOIC
The Analog Devices MAX31855KASA+ is a thermocouple-to-digital converter that directly digitizes the signal from a thermocouple, performing cold-junction compensation and linearization internally. It accepts multiple thermocouple types, outputs the temperature reading in digital format, and draws 900 µA from the supply.
The 900 µA supply current is the total device draw including the internal cold-junction compensation and conversion logic.
Package and mounting — footprint and handling
Housed in an 8-SOIC package with a 0.154-inch body width (3.90 mm), the MAX31855KASA+ is a surface-mount device.
For BOM planning, the active status means no forced redesign from obsolescence in the near term, and the ROHS3 declaration covers EU and global regulatory requirements without an exemption expiry date.
