Three-channel RS-422/RS-485 receiver for high-speed differential links
The Analog Devices MAX3097ECEE+T is a three-channel RS-422/RS-485 line receiver in a 16-QSOP package. It handles differential signalling at data rates up to 32 Mbps, making it suitable for high-speed industrial communication links, motor-drive feedback interfaces, and multi-drop RS-485 buses where the bus master only needs receive capability.
The 32 Mbps data rate supports short-run, high-throughput links such as vision-system triggers or encoder feedback lines. At this speed, cable length is limited by signal attenuation and skew — typically under a few metres for reliable operation. The 40 mV receiver hysteresis provides built-in noise rejection on the differential inputs, reducing false triggering from ground shifts or coupled interference on long cable runs. This is a practical advantage in factory-floor or motor-drive environments where common-mode noise is present.
