What this transceiver does on the bus
The MAX3086EESD+ is a single-channel RS-422/RS-485 transceiver running full duplex at 10 Mbps. One driver, one receiver in a 14-SOIC package.
At 10 Mbps you're looking at roughly 100 ns bit period. That's fast enough for most PLC backplane links, encoder feedback, or drive comms over short distances.
You can spec it into new designs without worrying about a forced respin next year. ROHS3 compliant, so it's fine for EU markets and most global BOMs.
