Rated for 250kbps data rate with 500mV of receiver hysteresis, it handles industrial serial communication over the -40°C to 85°C temperature range without needing a separate charge-pump capacitor network — the internal charge pump generates the RS232 voltage levels from the single supply.
The 250kbps data rate supports standard RS232 communication. Full-duplex operation means the driver and receiver can run simultaneously — no half-duplex turnaround delay, so the link sustains bidirectional throughput without protocol overhead for direction switching. The 500mV receiver hysteresis filters out noise on longer cable runs, reducing the chance of false start bits on a noisy factory floor.
