Octal digital input IC for industrial field-side conditioning
The MAX22193ATP+ is a 4-channel octal digital input IC from Analog Devices, designed to condition 24 VDC field signals for a PLC or motor controller backplane. It integrates eight digital input channels in a single 20-TQFN package, replacing discrete optocoupler or resistor-divider networks on the I/O card. The 65 V maximum on the field supply covers the 48 V nominal in some servo-drive cabinets and gives headroom for transients on long cable runs.
Package and board-fit: 20-TQFN with exposed pad
Surface-mount assembly with a standard reflow profile for lead-free solder works here; the exposed pad requires a solder paste stencil aperture covering 50-70% of the pad area to avoid voiding.
Digital parallel interface for high-speed I/O update
The digital parallel interface means the input states are read as a multi-bit word on a single read cycle — no serial shift-out delay. For a DC motor controller reading encoder or limit-switch states at the control-loop rate, this avoids the latency of a SPI or I2C bus. The 20-TQFN pin count allocates eight input channels plus the parallel data bus and supply pins. The exposed-pad ground connection keeps the digital return path short, which matters when the field-side transients couple into the logic ground plane.
