What this battery controller does and where it fits
The MAX17205G+ is a multi-function battery controller from Maxim Integrated, part of the ModelGauge™ series. It manages 2 to 3 series Li-ion cells and communicates over an I²C bus to a host microcontroller or PMIC. The ModelGauge algorithm combines voltage, current, and temperature measurements to estimate remaining capacity without the drift that plagues pure coulomb counters. Typical applications include portable medical devices, handheld industrial tools, and battery-backed instrumentation where accurate fuel-gauging extends run-time and protects the pack from deep discharge.
