CCFL controller with wide supply range
The MAX1611CSE from Analog Devices is a CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent lamp) controller designed to drive backlight inverters in LCD panels and similar lighting applications. It operates from a 4.75 V to 26 V supply and draws 1.5 mA typical quiescent current, suiting battery-powered or rail-constrained designs. The switching frequency spans 145 kHz to 290 kHz, set by external components, allowing the transformer and output filter to be sized for the target lamp impedance.
This variant does not include an integrated dimming function — brightness control must be handled externally or by a different part in the family if PWM dimming is required.
Active production, RoHS non-compliant
It is marked as RoHS non-compliant, so it does not meet the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive. For RoHS-compliant builds, check the lead-free variant (MAX1611CSE+ or similar) or confirm exemption applicability.
