Eight-channel simultaneous-sampling ADC — what it does and where it fits
The Maxim Integrated MAX155BEWI is an 8-bit successive-approximation ADC that captures eight analog inputs simultaneously through a track/hold front end, then multiplexes them through a single converter at 250k samples per second. The 8:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means all eight channels sample the same instant — critical for phase-correlated measurements like three-phase power monitoring or multi-axis vibration analysis where a sequential scan would introduce timing skew. Inputs can be configured as differential or single-ended, and the internal reference eliminates the need for an external voltage source on the analog supply rail.
Supply rails and temperature grade
Analog and digital supplies run from 4.75 V to 5.25 V. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
Package and interface
Housed in a 28-SOIC wide-body (0.295-inch body width, 7.50 mm), surface-mount. The parallel data interface gives direct connection to an MCU or DSP bus without serial latency — useful when the host needs to read all eight conversion results in a tight loop.
Lifecycle and sourcing note
The part is RoHS non-compliant, so verify your assembly line's exemption status if you're running a lead-free process.
