What this Li-ion protection IC does
The Maxim Integrated MAX14653EWC+T is a dedicated battery protection IC for single-cell Lithium Ion packs. It monitors the cell for over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage faults and disconnects the load or charger when a fault is detected. This is a protection-only device — it does not handle charging or fuel gauging, so it pairs with a separate charger IC and gauge in a complete battery management system.
Surface-mount only — no through-hole variant exists. The Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options suit both production pick-and-place and prototype hand-assembly.
