At 235 µA supply current, the LTC6990 draws less than a typical crystal oscillator plus buffer chain — relevant for battery-powered instrumentation or sensor nodes where every microamp is budgeted. The output frequency is set by a single resistor between the SET pin and ground, with the formula given in the datasheet.
Package and thermal considerations for PCB layout
Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel packaging supports automated pick-and-place. The exposed pad must be soldered to the PCB ground plane to achieve the rated thermal performance; a floating pad raises junction temperature under continuous operation.
