525 mA Li-Ion linear charger in a 10-MSOP-EP
The LTC4080EMSE#PBF is a constant-current, constant-voltage linear charger for single-cell Lithium-Ion batteries, delivering up to 525 mA charge current with a 4.2 V float voltage. Supply input maxes at 5.5 V, so this part runs from a 5 V USB rail or a regulated wall adapter without a pre-regulator, but a 5% tolerance 5 V supply at 5.25 V leaves only 250 mV headroom before the abs-max — the input capacitor and layout need to keep transients off the VCC pin.
The charge current is programmable via a single resistor from the PROG pin to ground, so the same BOM position can be tuned for different cell capacities by swapping one resistor value — no inductor, no Schottky, no compensation network.
