Single-cell Li-Ion gas gauge on I²C – 6-DFN footprint
It tracks charge and discharge in a 1-cell Li-Ion stack, reporting accumulated charge, voltage, and temperature through the bus. The device is housed in a 6-WFDFN exposed pad package (6-DFN 2x3 mm), and operates across the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
I²C bus – what it means for system integration
The I²C interface uses only two wires (SCL, SDA) and supports standard and fast-mode speeds. Because the LTC2942IDCB#TRMPBF is a bus slave, multiple battery monitors or other I²C peripherals can share the same bus without extra GPIOs.
One cell only – no multi-cell stacking
The LTC2942IDCB#TRMPBF is specified for a single Lithium Ion cell. If the BOM calls for monitoring a 2-cell or higher series stack, this part cannot be used directly – the internal sense and protection circuits are scaled for one cell. For multi-cell designs, look at the LTC2943 or LTC2944 family (not stocked here, but a common industry path).
Active lifecycle – no near-term obsolescence
ROHS3 compliant. For new designs or production replenishment, this part can be qualified into the BOM without worrying about a phase-out in the next few years.
