10-bit SAR ADC in an 8-MSOP footprint
The LTC1199LIMS8#PBF is a 10-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC with a maximum sampling rate of 210k samples per second, packaged in an 8-MSOP (3.00mm width) body. It accepts either a single differential input or two single-ended inputs (software-selectable via the SPI interface), giving the firmware engineer flexibility to route one sensor pair or two independent signals without an external mux. The 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means the sample-and-hold capacitor is dedicated to the active channel — no channel-to-channel crosstalk from a shared sampling node.
Supply rails and temperature envelope
The external reference input (REF) sets the full-scale range — a 2.5 V reference yields a 2.5 V span, while a 4.096 V reference uses the full 4 V supply headroom. The 10-bit resolution gives 2.44 mV per LSB at a 2.5 V reference, adequate for 0.1% sensor readouts with a clean analog front-end.
Lifecycle and second-source reality
The LTC1199LIMS8#PBF runs on a lower supply range (2.7 V to 4 V vs 5 V fixed) and offers a differential input option the AD7895 does not. The 8-MSOP package is smaller than the AD7895's 8-SOIC — a board spin is required to swap between them; they are not pin-compatible drop-in replacements.
