Supply range and bias current
The 3.7V to 30V supply range covers the common secondary-side bias voltages from 5V to 24V rails. The 4.5 mA supply current is the quiescent draw of the controller itself — the total load on the bias rail includes the gate charge of the external MOSFETs, which depends on switching frequency and MOSFET input capacitance. This low bias current makes the LT8311HFE#PBF suitable for self-powered secondary-side circuits where the bias is derived from the output or an auxiliary winding.
