5 V rail from a 45 V input — headroom and dropout
The LT3060ETS8-5#TRMPBF is a single-output positive LDO that delivers a fixed 5 V at up to 100 mA from an input rail that can swing as high as 45 V. The 0.51 V maximum dropout at full load means the input must stay above 5.51 V to keep the output in regulation — a 12 V truck battery or a 24 V industrial supply provides comfortable margin. The 67 dB power-supply rejection ratio at 120 Hz is the figure that matters when this LDO sits downstream of a full-wave rectifier and bulk capacitor — it attenuates the 100/120 Hz ripple by a factor of roughly 2,200, so a few millivolts of ripple on the bulk rail becomes microvolts at the 5 V output.
Quiescent draw and protection for always-on industrial loads
At 80 µA quiescent current (Iq), the regulator's own consumption is low enough for always-powered sensor modules or microcontrollers that spend most of their time in sleep — the 4 mA maximum supply current only occurs during fault or heavy transient conditions. On-chip protection covers overcurrent, overtemperature, and reverse polarity — the last is unusual for a linear regulator and saves an external series diode when the input could be accidentally reversed during harness mating or battery hookup.

The enable and soft-start pins give the system designer control over sequencing and inrush current.
